gleaves > Before the cleanup: The cemetery has been completely overgrown by trees and vines. The fence around the Barton graves is barely visible.
gleaves > The Cleanup begins: Notice the gravestone lying on the ground on the center right side of this picture.
gleaves > Untangling a rope. The rope is going to be used to pull down a tree that is hung up in another hugh tree.
gleaves > Break time and an opportunity to find out about the people buried here.
gleaves > Results of the lesson for reading old gravestones: Owen Gleaves holds the gravestone of Guy Trigg Gleaves, a distant relative. Notice how easy it is to read the stone after flour has been dusted over it.
gleaves > Wow! What a GREAT bunch of workers.
Team work really does pay off.
gleaves > Great Job and Thank you! Everyone is to be congratulated for their hard work. The cemetery looks wonderful!
gleaves > The weenie roast--
The Friday evening (Oct. 28, 2005) following the cleanup, the volunteers met to burn the brush cleaned out of the cemetery. And what better way to cap off the group effort than with a weenie roast!
Getting the fires going and setting up. Notice that two fires have been built.
gleaves > One fire for roasting the weenies
Wow! What a GREAT bunch of workers.
Team work really does pay off.
